Getting on dialysis late because machines broken.
Horrible Head Nurse Pettiness Shows
Filthy Dialysis Center
July 27, 2018
I just cut my dialysis short at this facility.
First... took me 5 minutes of arm waving to get someone to notice me... I needed to use the restroom, and my call light wasn't working.
Second... I walked in to the restroom, and someone had pissed all over the floor. I have a colostomy bag, which was already too full from trying to get someone's attention, so I had no choice but to stand in someone else's ***
Third... I immediately told someone and expressed my disgust at the condition of the bathroom.
Forth... an hour later I needed to empty my bag again. NO ONE HAD CLEANED THE BATHROOM!!! And, it being Friday night, between my bathroom visits there was much laughter and "comraderie" across the room by the staff. They were too busy having a good time rather than clean their "gas station restrooms".
Fifth... I complained to the manager on duty, only to be told she was really sorry. She thought someone had cleaned it up.
Sixth... At that point i was so angry and grossed out at having to stand in someone's urine twice, i demanded to be removed from the machine. A facility that can't keep it's own bathrooms cleaned is no where i want to do dialysis.
Seventh... the State & Medicare will be hearing from me Monday morning, as will the general manager of Puyalluo Davita as well as the national office.
My shoes are in the washing machine and i just took a hot shower.
Davita Puyallup's filth caused me to cut my dialysis short by an hour... and I won't be back.
DISGISTING!!!
To loud
Really annoying waiting room
Incompetence of Davita Staff
I am new to dialysis and from day one when I first entered the Davita building I was unimpressed. The floor was dirty, there was no staff there to greet you with information.
I had to knock on a window and someone reluctantly opened the window and I explained that I had been sent there by my doctor. The technicians didn't seem to know what they were doing and by the time I was finished with my first treatment, I was really feeling bad. I called my doctor right away and he said I was not supposed to feel bad after treatment. I was supposed to feel better.
I knew right away those technicians did not know what they were doing and then I felt afraid for my life. I asked how the technicians were trained and I found that they are not professionally trained they attend a few classes and are thrown out on the floor to practice on patients. What I have observed is that since most of the patients are seniors and it seems like they have one foot in the grave, these people at Davita do not care how they treat the patients. The staff at the place I go to is very inefficient and act as if they are doing us a favor.
Most of the time they are not there and the schedule you are suppose to be on is mostly disregarded. It is grueling enough that you have to sit on a machine for 3 to 4 hours not eating or going to the bathroom and you have to wait for hours to get on the machine because of lack of staff. Davita is making a killing off of medicare and hardly providing good service. I think the staff only makes minimum wage and thus they are unhappy and that is a bad combination for an individual to have that serves the public.
I feel all of the pain I have read here from others. I want something done about Davita and I would like to know where else can I go for dialysis treatment?
- Some of the employees can be professional
- Unprofessional staff
Ridiculous
Everything is broke

Bully and afraid for my life
Horrible people to try to get help from.
Davita Sweetwater, GA Location
The nurses hook up patients while talking to friends on their phones, ignore dialysis machine warnings while loudly talking and laughing with one another, and consistently display a total disregard for patients' comfort and needs.
They are often understaffed, especially on weekends, and there are times none of the staff show up at all, leaving all the patients waiting outside with the doors locked.
None of these issues are a concern to the Sweetwater head administrator, who defends her staff over the patients' needs, and calls to the corporate office go nowhere.
The fish rots from the head down and DaVita is a large corporate entity that puts profits before patients. Avoid this place like the plague!
My Father's death caused by DeVita Dialysis.
In Jan. 2017, a tech.
at his DeVita dialysis location asked me to look at my father's fistula so he could show me something. According to him It was a pseudo anuerisym(?). A VERY thin area on his fistula that was paper thin. He said that we neede to get him to the surgeon who created his AV graft.
We went and the surgeon said to keep an eye on it and not to let the techs. use this area. He never called and ordered this directive himself. He gave me a little surgical marker to draw around this area on dialysis days to remind the staff.
Really? That's my job? When I brought him back in I told the tech. who had showed me the area and told him that the surgeon said to stay away from this area when they cannulated him.
The tech. was shocked and said that it was more serious than that and to get another opinion so we did and this vascular surgeon said my father had to have an emergency surgery the next day and he prformed a revision or resection? He placed a temporary line in chest. After a period of some weeks he said that the revision could be used.
Upon the first attempt to cannulate him Devita let a tech. with only 17 hrs. expierience and who was being coached by another tech., attempt to cannulate the revised AV graft. The tech.
could not get the needles in properly and my dad heard the senior tech. tell her to stop and that this was ruining the new graft. They went back and used the temporary line. That night my dad's arm, on the graft side swelled up huge with blood and in the morning he was very frightened as was myself so we took him to DeVita where they looked at it.
One of the techs who looked at it said,"That didn't happen here, he must have hit his arm on something." I wanted to scream at this idiot that it happened there because the inexpierienced tech ran the needles through it repeatedly but instead asked to speak with the tech who had coached her. Guess what? I was told that he was no longer there. My father had to go back in for another emergency surgery to stop the bleeding and the surgeon said that as long as they stayed away from the area that they could cannulate the AV graft.
The very first time back, when they tried to cannulate him they did it right in the area they were not supposed to and it swelled with blood again and my poor dad had to have another emergency surgery after which the surgeon said that he would never have another AV graft and he would need to stay on the temporary line. The same line that they always wanted him off of because of infection risk. We were horrfied by now and my father thought he was being tortured by DeVita and became so frightened by it all that he begged me not to take him back. Keep this in mind; my father's blood work was so good prior to all this that his dialysis was reduced to twice a week from three and it stayed perfect.
He was in his eighties but still made love to his wife and could drink all the fluids he wanted too he had the best blood work results in the place, every month. He had a lot of life left with quality. After all this he was so mentally screwed that he could not bear the thought of going back and he refused and said that they were not competent and he was right. He was tortured for so long and was so scared that he just could not go back from fear of the dialysis center and fear of the temporary line getting infected and just the whole thing.
He lived for a little over two weeks and passed. I miss my dad so bad. Yes he was old but he had quality of life before they caused that psuedo anuerism(?) by not rotating where they cannulated him. THEY CAUSED THE PROBLEM because they were always in a rush and so they stuck him in the same place again and again until the area on his AV graft was raised and paper thin.
I hope that the those at the top of DeVita rot in ***. Sincerely; Jeffrey E Fish.
