Your an *** who wants to blame everyone but yourself

this site encourages pt to push the blame onto people who care and are trying to help them feel better. if the patient ignores the helpful info given to them they will not feel good at all. they are part of the team to make this successful, no one and I mean no one can make them follow the treatment prescribed to them. they are and always will be grown adults who make their own (free will ) choices based on the info given to them. it starts with them and ultimately ends their as well. as medical care givers we are not their babysitter. that means we are not with them 24-7 they need to put their big girl and boy pants on and do what is best for them. info is given based on pt studies and surveys not given to scare and cause fear of death. which will and could happen to anyone. so thank you for empowering patients to the point that they believe their own lie of being compliant. when all the lab results symptoms or complaints indicate non compliance of treatment.

Well, you see, the thing is, when you have facilities giving the wrong treatment, or falsifying medical records, or withholding necessary medications (ALL of which I have been a witness to at more than one DaVita facility), of COURSE the tests are going to come back as looking as if the patient is non-compliant. Now, I'm not saying there aren't patients who are as you say, but the above named subterfuge practiced by DaVita as a whole sure make it easy to put the blame elsewhere for their own incompetence.

Do not be a thinned skinned OH they are talking about me little baby. there are good and bad everything .

Doctors hospitals etc. If you don,t think so stay at the Shattuck in boston then have something at least intelligent to say.

You are right you are not baby sitters...but you are suppose to care. Hence the name caregivers.

#937543

Is the OP an employee of a medical facility? If so, I cannot imagine under what circumstances her unprofessional ranting would have been green-lighted by her employers. If she is merely another patient, she would be well-advised to tend to her affairs.

#1027768
@PissedConsumer937543

Green lighted by her employers?? Tend to her affairs??

your choice of words is ridiculous. And I bet you think you are superior or entitled huh? why do people need their employers permission?? FREE SPEECH ***.

Obviously you are a physician but not a senior or attending by any means. Gain some experience other than PGY 5 or newly hired attending. Senior staff attending physicians don,t have time to worry about nonsense.

they are to busy.

I've seen this st my aunts clinic. Pts come in w/ 6+kg & say they didn't drink anything. They eat a carton of strawberries and wonder why their potassium is high. They multiple treatments and dont understand why labs are bad or they dont feel well. The education is given, but many times it goes in one ear and out the other.

I've seen patients blatantly disrespect staff, yell out *** d or *** when asked to wait until staff was available to start the treatment due to an emergency. The patients stay due to the medical director. Its ridiculous.

Many people don't c are about their health and then blame staff for not feeling well. It's hard and I feel bad for staff frequently.

Staff are there to provide a service. Not be be abused. You're right, these people are adults and many of them are choosing and creating the problems for themselves.

This comment is an example of the type of non caregivers that the dialysis center hire. No understanding and believe they are the bad God. All of the supportive caregivers understand their are bad apple in each barrel and the statement does not apply to everyone but most are not in the business because they care; but because they needed a job.

Racist workers who refuse to take responsibility for there actions

Davita is a non caring, sloppy, company, which hires people with a little or small experience in the medical field. Allowing people to be treated crude, rude and just taking and spending more time on decorations than the actual client. I've been accused of more things than I can imagine, yet these same employees, create accidents and don't listen to the ill client. Instead, it's more about what can be posted on some board. Davita is a horrible, horrible company, and because I complaint, they see me as someone who is never satisfied, which is not true rather it's the actions of the staff that makes me feel very unsafe.

Thank you. I work for them now and was told that I have too much conversation and jokes with the patients.

While other staff treat them like cattle...hook them up and walk away without any care or concern. I thank you for letting me know that I'm not being too clingy or caring

You may be referring to a certain Davita Facility, but the Facility I work at has a wonderful bond with all of our patients! We truly all work together as a team!

I do not think it's fair to down talk Davita as a whole just because you had a bad Experience at a certain facility! Please go to that Facility's FA & social worker to discuss any Davita employee that may be causing problems!!!

Also Davita provides proper training... My guess is the persons you are referring to are choosing to not follow Davita's policies & procedures, and need to be turned in to the FA.

I am really sad that you guys feel this way to the company where I belong and received my paycheck I would never ever do this kind of things to my patients....I am an advocate for best care and safety for my dialysis patients....hope that you can be my patients so you will know and see the difference that not everybody that works at my company are like that..

#717675

All i can say is that these places have to be licensed......if they are making errors or you feel your life is at stake....turn them in. Otherwise - look else where for care

#700757

I thought I the only one that felt that way I left and came back to the same old foolishness often I would go home crying and feeling afraid to go to treatment because of feeling unsafe because worker would gang up on you if you question anthing' I feel your pain.

Fresenius is run by a German company, staffed by incompetent unqualified people. Doctors involved are nothing other than money grubbing thieves.

Dialysis centers cover and bury their mistakes. THEY ARE BIGOTED. THEY ARE ABUSIVE. they are INCOMPETENT.

They are headed by unqualified nurse "supervisors". Many of these nurses can't get a job anywhere else. They are constantly cited - they just pay the millions of dollars in fines. This is truly sickening.

Today, as we see veterans being poorly treated by VA - not treated and killed - many of these veterans have been shoved into Fresenius where they are truly treated in an inferior and biased manner. Complain loud and clear.

GO TO THE MEDIA. They at least are now listening.

I am an ICU supervisor at a major hospital in Alaska. Technicians, nurses, and ancillary personnel at Fresenius and now Liberty - which is owned by Fresenius - can only find work at these incompetent facilities.

Fresenius is a wastebasket for incompetent medical personnel unable to find a job elsewhere. We frequently see the "mistakes" and the abuse. Far too often, we hear of horror stories and people being refused treatment. Too bad Fresenius doesn't hire qualified personnel and pay them as well as they pay their legal team.

Fresenius and now Liberty pays hundreds of millions of dollars in fines constantly.

They don't repair the problem, just pay the fines. If your loved one is a veteran, go to the media, they are quite willing to listen to these stories right now.

Overcharged?

I would suggest that you contact www.dialysisadvocates.com Many patients are complaining about care issues and when they do, it appears that they are retaliated against or dismissed. Patients need to speak out and know that there is a non industry Organization that charges patients not a dime. Patients are afraid for alot of reasons. They have no where to go and no rights. CMS just throws out the Taxpayer money and has not held them accountable. I would suggest that you browse the web site. There is help out there for those who need a voice and to stop retaliation. Some patients are dismissed and blackballed.

Cms has tight regulations that all dialysis clinics have to follow to receive reimbursement. This includes lab values, patient care, training, charting, staff education etc..

So, it is incorrect and deceiving to say that cms just throws out tax payer money when the money does not come from CMS...they are a regulatory agency. Medicare and Medicaid are the payers.

This reimbursement rate has not increased to match inflation and now with bundling you will see tighter regulations enacted with much smaller profits for health care agencies. In fact, you will see the smaller provides disappear and being bought out by larger providers ie; Davita, Fresenius etc..

There is no accountability,as the oversight is the industry. CMS continues to allow this to go on. They have had full knowledge. This is the only field of medicine that the physicians are immune from the anti-kickback and stark law. Cnn just did a story on the corruption in this company. It is about time. WHEN I WENT IN TO FIND OUT WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE FOR MY PATIENT TO GET HER BADLY NEEDED TRANSPORTATION THE NURSE HANDED MY PATIENT FORMS FOR DART BUS TO BE FILLED OUT AT HOME. BUT THE FORMS ALSO NEEDED TO BE FILLED BY THE DOCTOR WITHOUT WHICH THE FORMS WOULD HAVE BEEN USELESS TO MY PATIENT. IT IS MY VIEW THE FORMS SHOULD HAVE BEEN FILLED OUT WITH THE NURSE RIGHT THERE AND THE DOCTOR SO IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND SENT OUT WITHOUT DELAY BECAUSE SHE WAITED LONG ENOUGH.

THE STAFF HAVE THE MENTALITY OF PASSING THE BUCK. I AM LOOKING INTO ANOTHER PLACE WHERE DOING THE BASICS IS NOT A HASSLE FOR THEM.

Contact us at: www.dialysisadvocates.com I now have another in Southern California. The dismissals are getting out of hand. We are not industry and will sue if a patient is harmed. DaVita Dialysis was charging my Insurance up to $30,000 per month

I was a dialysis patient at DaVita before my transplant and it was VERY expensive. I was 20 years old and on my parents insurance plan and they were charging my insurance up to $30,000 per month because I was insured. Since had insurance, my treatment cost offset all of the people that were on medicare. Now I find out about their Medicare Fraud stealing around $800,000,000 from the U.S. Taxpayers/Medicare. The thing about it that really *** me off is that they made the cost and ability to get insurance go up. Now it is nearly impossible to get an insurance company to 'pick me up' or allow me to get coverage because the risk of me going on dialysis is there (and always will be), and a kidney transplant can cost upwards of $250,000. DaVita has benefited financially from people with Kidney Failure that are in need of medical care, insurance and they made the cost of everything attached to it go up. They stole money from the U.S. Taxpayers. DaVita should pay, and there should be a class action lawsuit that forces them to pay people like me that are now having difficulty obtaining private insurance for a reasonable price, or that have gone uncovered and into 'pre-existing status'. Throw the heads of their company in jail and strip them of their licenses and make an example out of them.

They're not doing it out of the goodness of their hearts! Kent Thiry, the head of DaVita, pays himself at least 17 million a year, some years almost $30 million, and he has no medical background. I used to be a DaVita patient, but I switched to a non-profit clinic and now I'm much happier.

#700276

THIS AIN'T *** PEOPLE. I too am a Davita dialysis patient with private insurance.

I am billed %5,092 per treatment... that's $15k a week, $60k a month, $722k per year. While my insurance pays $696 per treatment, that is still 500% over and above Medicare. What's worse is that Divita financially benefits from the full amount billed. Consumer Fair Trade and prices act...

Usury laws... ethics and conduct... HELLO? Considering group health insurance is underwritten based on claims billed and not claims paid, I stand a snowball's chance in *** of getting health insurance next year with a premium under $85k plus 10k deductible.

A Govt. program??? are you kidding me?

been there and done that... and it sucks

#620424

You can apply for insurance with the government. there is a program for people who have been rejected for pre existing conditions. my husband was covered by it.

My advice is go somewhere else if you can.The staff is always eating and standing around gossiping. The do not have enough staff to give proper care.It takes awhile to get someones attention if you need something.I dont understand why corporate headquarters allows so much negativity in one facility. The never come and check on things they seem to only care about the dollar!

I believe everyone has a right to their own opinion. But with that said I do not think some of you delis that Davita is a dialysis clinic not a doctors office.

We do not offer exams of anything other than the fistula, graft or cvc. If someone is complaining of pain in their legs maybe they should see their PCP.

We deal with Kidneys not the heart or Dvts. Nephrologists specialize in the kidneys!

#748188
@PissedConsumer747899

Let's be honest here Anonymous, because DaVita doesn't even deal with patients and their kidneys very well either. Whether you are a dialysis clinic or not you should be concerned about the total person.

Without the total person there, you wouldn't be getting paid and DaVita wouldn't be making money off of them!! I never understand why dialysis clinics and employees of DaVita always want to put limitations on what services that they provide patients. Maybe it's because you're limited in the services and healthcare that you know???

Plus even you can't or don't provide those services, what's wrong with providing a referral? (Hello)

DaVita Disappointment

I posted a complaint about Davita cottonwood a few weeks ago. At that time the complaint was about, the rough handling of my grandmother during one of her dialysis treatments. That incident did not escalate and for that we are thankful (but not forgetful). However the handling of the situation was also disappointing. The manager mentioned in the previous complaint was not present enough at this office to even know what's going on there. When the time came to address the issue with my grandmother she spoke with her and convinced her that she did not have her faculties in order. Then she made her feel that she was becoming senile. This is not true. She spoke of this incident with impunity and spoke the person's name two or three times (to me alone). She knew she was at the cottonwood clinic and not the nursing home when this incident occurred. It is unfair to speak to someone in this way and to bully into thinking that nothing happened. This is a very disheartening and we are concerned for all patients there. Not because of the nurses or the staff. I wonder if all clinics are of this chaotic and all nurses/techs worked until it's hard for them to even stand up to let alone; concentrate on only to have no support. It seems that they are not supported from this female manager. They were supposed to have managers, coordinators and plenty of support for my grandmother. Thank you to those who have used care when treating to my grandmother. She is a good Woman. But the sad fact is the management also helps to make a clinic a place that families can trust to care for our people. We stand together in this and do not appreciate the bullying and oppressive tactics used on people that are seen to be below (for whatever reason).

I really feel for you, Southwesterner. It is quite apparent you care a good deal for your Grandmother.

My mother is going through dialysis now--has been for almost 5 years. However, she has dementia, so we can't even be told by her when there is a problem--like being stuck too many times, blood pressure dropping too fast, and so on. I have to rely on what I see and hear from the techs. Her fistula recently went dead and a port was put in her chest for dialysis.

She is 81 and has grown so weak and almost lifeless. Yesterday, after two sessions of using the new port, I stopped in to see her and found that the needles were stuck in her arm again. Apparently, someone didn't know that they can no longer use the arm and have to use the new port. How can this happen????

She cannot speak for herself, and after being given a run-around of a story as to why this happened, I just left in a rage. Your grandmother is so very lucky to have someone like you care so deeply.

We have to step in for the weak and elderly who can't do anything themselves. Keep up the good work, and really stay on top of things----I do!

#422742

Forgot to add....in fact, if you see the manager all the time out in the clinic working, you should be concerned because that means something is not going right- either short-staffed or a staff member needs oversight or the staff can't be trusted to carry out their responsibilities without the manager there micromanaging them!

Please educate yourself before opening your mouth to complain...not doing so makes you look dumb and wastes everyone's time...time that could be spent working on things that are real problems or that need improvement.

#622840
@PissedConsumer422742

It is normal for managers to micromanage even if they have good staff. To this day we have patients that have been there for almost a year and have no clue who the administrator is.

Rediculous. We had a very good team, but there is a lot of nepatism that goes on with some managers. Now I am in a facility even the ROD will come on the floor, talk to the patients, the staff.

A very pro patient, pro employee environment. They are snatching the best of the best from Davita.

#664283
@PissedConsumer422742

Hello miss or Mr. I am glad that you ‘happen’ to join in the conversation. In fact it seems that you have is some insight interest in this otherwise why would you take the time to defend managers in general.

You say just what do people think managers are supposed to do; managers have two main goals.

The first of which is to maintain an organized work environment for employees. This means managing schedules in such a way that the employees are not burnt out, singled out, or cut short on their available hours.

The next and main goal is to manage your output. This means providing a quality output for the consumer; no matter what product you are producing.

In the case of healthcare the consumer is the patients and the output is a health.improvement.

In most Arizona and American dialysis clinics this seems to be their goals as well and the patient’s often the most part getting the care they need and able to spend time communicating with healthcare professionals that will help them reach their goals.

These are things I know much about because I’ve done this type of managing more than 20 years. Now I am not perfect but learned from my mistakes.

DAVITA dialysis in Cottonwood doesn’t seem to have the same continuity and flow as the other Arizona clinics I have visited many friends in a few clinics from Phoenix to Flagstaff and know they have an opportunity before and after their treatments to talk about concerns about their health.

In Cottonwood at this Davita clinic there is only 15 minutes of actual time to speak to a nurse, was never enough time for Real attention or get other important parts of their treatment >> and still their major disappointment. The scheduling ‘reads as’ 30 mintes but ‘putting on’ and ‘taking off’ is not included and only 15 minutes remains. Not enough time to talk about concerns about their health.

My friends have told me this So sweet and honest people that do not want to get the nice nurses in trouble so wont say nothing. However the Nurses seem to KILL themselves to help the patient and pressured as much as techs (maybe more)… Thank GOD for you …. Nures!!!!

This is a sad fact that people in rural areas should be treated differently. Why is this is because you think they have no choice or that they don’t know better. Just so you know most people in Cottonwood have money but chose to live away from the busy city. So they should now be pushed around by a manager and a corporation like Davita.

Davita is a company that goes on and on about how great their care is that will allow this to happen in a place they think is out of view of the public so they will allow their manager to schedule this way for the sake of the dollar. This is scheduled this way to cram in more patients with less staff… Very obvious.

So this manager fails; {even compared to her own company’s other clinics).Because the employees are under tremendous pressure and to come and go often it seems as far as having a not and unable to deal with disorganization that is always blamed on someone other than the manager. And yes I have witnessed this on one of my visits in which all she did was yell at some of the best workers there and blame them for things that she clearly mismanaged. Brought a tear to my eye.

I have worked in these situations before and know how much it hurts to care for people only to be yelled at by someone who has no idea what you’re doing and blames everyone else for her mismanagement by being unprofessional .

Furthermore I have seen what my family members and friends have gone through at dialysis clinics so I know how hard it is to know you now have to have dialysis to stay alive. So having good employees that are good to the patient’s and follow procedures so that they stay alive and thrive…….. Is critical.

So this manager fails on the output from the clinic as well. This is not the best care that these patients can get.

Nor is it the best care that these patients deserve.

I pray to God DAV IT A steps in to do something to help these people. Especially if I ever get diagnosed myself.

#422739

Exactly what do you think a manager's responsibilities are? Who do you think runs the operations behind the scenes?

Also, who do you think hires and manages the staff you speak of. If a manager is really doing his/her job you will not see them often, because they are busy behind the scenes making sure the clinic runs as it should!

#622836
@PissedConsumer422739

This is not true. I worked for Davita 4 years, there was no support for staff.

The managers have enough time to complain about their staff, but not help. I was being physically abused by an elderly patient. I was frustrated not so much at the patient as I was at the lack of staff support, my other patients were suffering as the focus was on this patient and I could not leave her to take care of them. My manager watched this confused patient continually pinch and slap me while I was trying to return her, the manager just laughed and asked what I did to her.

The managers promote and reward stupidity while they harass the staff that truly cares about their patients. The good staff try and stay as long as they can for the patients despite the *** managment. If the staff looks frazzled, they most likely are. The managment contributes greatly to the clinic environment and lack of employee moral.

The clinic ran smoother when she was not even in the building. Life is so much better breaking ties with Davita.

Davita Dissapointment

DaVita renal services has recently assumed control of my Grandmother's Dialysis clinic. She is a sweet little thing and more likely [than not] to be quiet; even when abused by the bully-type of person. Place: DaVita Dialysis , Month/Year: January 2012: My Grandmother goes to her regular dialysis appointment and must be hooked up to her machine. during this procedure the technician became visibly aggravated and began to tug and pull on her arm-catheter that is IN her sweet little arm and veins. This Man decided he can Physically harm her by intentionally tugging this assembly away from her arm/body as he glared angrily in her eyes. Her friend confirmed this as a witness. I considered that she may be over exaggerating and asked this person. She took a day or two to even tell me about this because she is timid (I am not). The pain just persisted enough that she felt it was a concern… so sweet. We are customers without a choice because she is chained to this treatment in order to stay Alive which she has the right to; without fear of retaliation. And this is why she won't allow me to say anything right now. She is tiny but can be demanding LoL ;) Truly when I think of this it makes me so angry and I realize that I must write to contain the anger as he put his non-caring hands on a people that need his help and is historically quick-to anger. And this is [seemingly] historically ignored. That is why I must try this avenue at this point because of the PHYSICAL abusive nature of this continued treatment and stress for her. This situation is Known and probably documented by now. HISTORY shows that this manager does nothing as this tech sleeps on the actual FLOOR or the Clinic (where is that legal or safe?) Sad that these people are rewarded a job and that my grandmother has to consider leaving her home because these type of people retaliate by harming her more and she is scared. So sad that this person; no actually, these two people (the bully tech and the nonexistent boss are BLOCKING her from being FREE in The United States by making her change her plans for her life by doing nothing about a long history of problems. I am speaking up in hope to help her to be heard. In the DaVita Cottonwood Az clinic; the turn-over rate is scary alone, this is due to the poor quality (and invisible) management of this chaotic mess. Customer Advocacy where are you because this is the worst clinic she has visited and we need help.

I am SO sorry about your grandmother. Having a myriad of bad (and sometimes life-threatening) experiences with DaVita, the best advice I can give you is to get her to another facility (NOT DaVita) NOW if not sooner. The abuse appears to be company wide.

I hate Davita.. they are all rude i go to one in Tuscaloosa Alabama .

I had 5 bypass surgery yet. A tech that is pregnant and always asleep or eating told me to sit my self up from reclining position..

wish there was more options here.. would go somewhere else..

I don't know if you are checking this post anymore but you have every right to be concerned about the care of your grandmother. My mother was on dialysis for almost 4 years - i was there every saturday, and other family members with her on tues and thurs.

not a day went by that something did not go right with either her or one of the other patients. i was continually telling the patient techs, that so and so needed help, or so and so was bleeding, etc. there was two techs that actually cared. one time a new tech was hooking my mom up and she couldn't even figure out what to do first and which line to hook up, etc.

i told the head nurse to get over there and this this crazy person away from my mom. the girl acted like she was strung out on some drugs - no exaggeration. and i said, you better to do something with her - i don't want her to be working on any of these patients. they actually let her go about a week later.

my mom's catheter line wasn't working correctly so i had to take her to have a new one put in - the doctor that did this procedure, said that the dialysis unit had to have pulled on it some how and if they would have just FELT it, they would have known it was out. The stories go on and on - even a doctor arguing with me about a medicine his office had prescribed and said he didn't - but i had proof he did. the good techs were told "not to talk to me" anymore. You and family members have to be the advocate for your family member receiving treatment - always checking on them.

it was a constant struggle with the clinic. i still stop by there once and a while to talk to some people i made friends with while my mom was going there - she has since passed away. the people i talk to waiting for their family member keep their eyes and ears wide open, take lots of notes, etc.

and always one is sitting with their family member the whole treatment. needless to say, the clinic staff do not care for them either.

Yet another complaint about something you know absolutely nothing about.

You do not know if the "boss" is doing anything about the tech sleeping or not and you are not entitled to know what action is being done- it's a private matter between the employee, manager and human resources.

Please, please, please educator yourself before you post complaints attempting to harm a company's reputation. You seriously are claiming they are retaliating against your GM? Seriously? I believe there is some retaliatory behavior going on here, but it IS NOT by the company or the employees- you seem to be the one retaliating here, or at least trying to.

Nures!!!!
