Teammate

So I worked at davita for 2 months. I had to leave bec #1 my preceptor has no patience at all shes mean and gives me attitude. #2nd, its stressing, so much work to do and pays you $14.50 for training and $15 for regular employee. If you will not take the exams, it will stay $15/hr. Good benefits tho. And I called payroll davita to ask why I didnt get paid for my PAID TIME OFF THAT I EARNED WHILE WORKING WITH THEM. And they said, they are not paying the PTO unless you spend a year working with them. Atleast now I know how they treat their employees.

Unjust termination.

My job with Davita Briacrest was suddenly terminated on August 20th. I was informed my services were no longer required because of certain patient complaints. I had tried to find out what the complaints were, but was told patients are entitled to their confidentiality. The FA also said I was not getting along with other teammates, to my surprise, having constantly complained myself about the rude and unprofessional conduct of some of them. When I'm team lead, the techs are allowed to leave early while I'm forced to take over their patients and still function as team lead. They leave the floor without telling me and the charge nurse allows it always refuses to address the issue but blames me for being slow when we are out of compliance with patient's ratio. I was refused the $1/hr increase after 6monts in. I never called in once throughout my stay in Davita but the 1st vacation I was to take was not allowed because my job was terminated a week before I could go on my birthday vacation. While others who underperformed were celebrated and treated with kindness, all I got was mean treatment and discouragement. The FA told me my termination was from above and that left to him, it was not coming from him. This I did not believe because he refused to act while other teammates were rude and yelled at me on the floor. All I'm requesting at this time is that my PTO and deserved increase be paid. I had worked hard during my stay in Davita helped out when others were sick and could not come to work or had to leave early. I do not deserve the treatment I got overall. But at the same time, I have no joy in working in a place where my efforts are not appreciated. I was obviously the only one who did not know it was my last day, If I knew it was coming I would have tendered my resignation and not waited to be treated with so much indignity by the other teammates. Here is the copy of my complaint : Good afternoon Chad. I'm compelled to send this message due to the treatment I got on the floor yesterday. I wasn't prepared to combine taking patients and being a team lead at the same time because The facility policy is that we reschedule the patients. We already had three patients who were either in the hospital or called in sick for the 1st shift, my expectation was that we would use those chairs for the 1st shift patients who were already in the facility and reschedule the others for third shift. I'm officially reporting Darlene and Melanie's conduct on the floor. While working on the new pts assessment, Melanie told Darlene I should take a pt off the machine. I told Darlene with 4 techs to 13 pts we had enough people and I needed to complete the assessments. They both started yelling at me at the same time, with Darlene threatening to write me up and Melanie saying I should leave. I've never experienced such breakdown of order in a workplace and in the presence of patients. At a point I asked them both to stop yelling at me and went to the Bio Med room. To my disgust, Melanie followed me in there and kept yelling at me and continued to stalk me around, sometimes blocking my path and was in my face. Feeling harassed and threatened for my safety, I left the floor and went to lock myself in the toilet, she still followed me and kept yelling insults at me. At this point, I contemplated calling 911. When she eventually left, I came back to the floor only for Darlene to start yelling at me again because I only drew some of Jazs meds. This is outright workplace harassment. I had reported Melanie to Renee before, and she stopped for a while, but it has really gone out of hand. I'm asking to have this addressed because this cant continue, most especially in the presence of patients.

User's recommendation: I’m not a customer just a former teammate. If I know of another means of expressing my dissatisfaction I would have used it. This is not for public consumption.

I like to see more in preventable medicine

My potassium is kind of high on the borderline , they don't do anything before the weekend , they should do something on Friday before Monday because the potassium going to be way high by Monday , should do something about bringing it down the potassium before the weekend no-brainer

Disrespect and prejudice towards minorities

The New Haven Clinic has to be one of the most unprofessional clinics in the history of Healthcare, some of the nurses are very disrespectful to minorities and openly prejudice. I've witnessed multiple incidents where people in authority have screamed at the technicians right in front of the patients and even use profanity. Almost every new trainee has quit and or planning on quitting due to the lack of respect and discrimination.

To share experience

From what I've seen, all they care about is bossing their patients around. We went through their pd home dialysis program and now they're harassing us every day. Besides that, they make patients sign contracts which essentially say you'll do everything they tell you to, which violates your rights as a patient.

User's recommendation: Avoid if you can they're bullies.

Poor patient care

Under staffed, poor training of staff, can not keep techs/nurses. Constant "fill ins" from other locations. Never any consistency in procedures. Nurses are severely overworked with too many patients to manage. DaVita has little to do with dialysis patient care and everything to do with making money for top management. Patient amenities (chairs, TV's etc) are old, worn and don't work. If one complains about these items you are told "it's not in the budget" DaVita is all about making lots of money for corporate management and nothing at all to do with patient care

User's recommendation: Check your options, there are other companies.

Can’t Breathe

Time and time again I have told. A staff member she cannot wear strong perfume in a medical center as also Northwell health who is Davita partner also has said. The FA has instructed Corell that she cannot wear this perfume because it causes patients to go into a Asmatic shock and congestive heart failure. But this technician does not care . She refuses to adhere to policy and procedures. Next is a lawyer to drop a lawsuit perhaps thats the only way to get this nonsense to stop maybe a 10 Million dollar l

User's recommendation: File lawsuits.

I am a patient at a DaVita treatment center. I used a CPAP at home, prescribed and needed to breath when I sleep. I tried to explain how the mask and machine works to no avail.

Not even a Doctor can convince them the CPAP is safe. So, if I can't breath and don't wake up on my own, it is fine to die on their watch, as long as I don't spread Covid. I can prove with GRAPE JUICE that no fluid will come out, if worn properly. NO. NO machine unless provided by DaVita. No CPAP provided. I am denied medical treatment because it isn't provided by DaVita. They will clean your blood but don't care of you cant breath. People are safer around me with my cpap on because cough or sneeze droplets can get awaydont have sleep apnea!

User's recommendation: Don't have sleep apnea! Breathing is optional.

Complaint

Original review updated by user Apr 20, 2021
Patients Beware! Da Vita in Dunsmore, PA is extremely unprofessional. There is one nurse in particular that blatantly flirts with a patient, constantly giving him special attention and hanging around him talking all of the time. This nurse is also extremely boisterous which consequently encourages the other nurses to behave in the same manner. There doesn't seem to be a supervising nurse that maintains a professional environment.

User's recommendation: Go somewhere else!
